Peter Sinks Trail makes a loop that begins and ends at the same point on Hardware Ranch Road. It travels through the Engelmann spruce and Douglas firs of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. In areas where the landscape opens up, there are expansive views over Bear Lake. The trail also passes by the series of picturesque sinkholes that give the region its name. Special Attractions: Sinkholes in a remote alpine basin setting; Broad views across to Bear Lake; Fascinating side road from Hardware Ranch Road. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs.
