This ride, easily accessible from Moab, is perfect for fit novices and beginners if ridden as an out-and-back to the Porcupine Rim Trailhead- approximately an 18-mile round-trip. But this route can also be a great distance climb with technical challenges at the top, followed by a ripping descent back to Moab. Trail Surface: The road surface is paved to just past the Moab slickrock Bike Trail parking lot, then turns to gravel, hardpack, loose rocks, and sand. The backside of the lollipop has technical rock ledges and some exposure.
