this is 3rd after porcupine and slickrock! Unique, spectacular, but it'll kick your but.
A strenuous out & back. The start of this trail is a killer. First a steep loose downhill to the creek, the creek crossing & then the climb along ledges. But when you finally top out you'll find great views & slickrock to play on. Total mileage is 10 to ll miles with 1000 feet of climb.
Even though this is an out and back, both directions seemed completely different. Going out is a steady climb, but on my old hardtail it didn't seem so bad. It was even enjoyable for a long climb. The views throughout were great, but the views at the end were amazing! The return ride was AWESOME! Probably even more fun than Slickrock, but the climbing puts it behind Slickrock for me. I hope to head back soon with my newer Stumpjumper FSR to really enjoy the ledges and drops and rocky areas of this trail.
