The Tesuque Peak Road (FR 150) begins at 10,300 feet and traverses forests of mixed conifer and aspen to take you up to Tesuque Peak at 12,300 feet. As you climb higher you will emerge from these big trees to find altitude-stunted pines and the tundra-like vegetation that characterizes alpine life zones.
Once you reach the radio towers you will have some spectacular views to take in. Lake Peak (12,409 feet) and Penitente Peak (12,250 feet) rise immediately to the north and east of you. Santa Fe Lake is just below you.
