This is a popular area with easier access and more modern conveniences. Campgrounds range from open-air flatlands along river bottoms to well-shaded units tucked away under a massive mountain. Rafting is a popular activity in campgrounds to the south of Bozeman. If seclusion and less traffic noise is what you seek, choose one of the campgrounds off the main road. Spire Rock would make an excellent paradise, if you can tolerate the rough, narrow access. This eTrail contains detailed descriptions of the following campgrounds: Battle Ridge, Fairy Lake, Missouri Headwaters State Park, Langhor, Hood Creek, Chisholm, Spire Rock, Greek Creek, Swan Creek, Moose Flat, and Red Cliff.
