This ride might draw cries of derision from those seeking a gnarly, singletrack experience, but the roads followed here travel through some dynamite high country and offer a glimpse at Montana’s mining past. The pine and aspen woods along the Garnet Range Road, a national backcountry byway, are home to many creatures, and the many joined circuits hereabouts provide awesome views of the Mission Mountains and other ranges near and far. If you come this far, you’ll also want to take a walking tour of the town itself, just down the hill from the parking lot. Tread: Well-maintained dirt roads.
