Located 24 miles northwest of Helena on the Continental Divide above the old mining town of Marysville, Great Divide offers Helena's only lift-assisted mountain biking…an easy way to get your bike to the top of a 7,200 foot mountain. You don’t have to be a diehard downhiller to enjoy dangling your feet on the ride up and jangling your adrenals on the ride down. There are several all-road options (with some doubletrack) for beginners, while intermediate and advanced riders will enjoy getting lost on a surprising array of jeep tracks, trails, and livestock or game runs. If enough people support this service, the number of routes will surely expand, whether flagged by Great Divide crews or simply blazed with fat tire tracks in the tall grass. The views are spectacular and the riding options nearly unlimited. Roads and trails radiate off Mount Belmont onto adjacent national forest and Bureau of Land Management lands. Hone your downhill skills, then enjoy lunch or dinner at the Continental Club in the base lodge.
