Located 2 miles south of Helena between Grizzly Gulch and Orofino Gulch roads. One of the most gradual and least technical climbs into Helena's South Hills, this route offers plenty of shade, access to other trails (including the sweetest slice of singletrack in the neighborhood), and a chance to see deer and other wildlife. The Meadow at mile 3.5 feels far from town and makes a good destination for evening rides. To date, the owner of the private property near the mouth of Squaw Gulch has generously allowed access for non-motorized recreationists to the national forest lands beyond. Other owners of inholdings and parcels along grizzly and Orofino gulches have closed trails leading into Squaw Gulch. The trail segment from The Meadow to the Unionville road (mile 3.6 to 4.3) crosses private land and future access is uncertain. Please herd all marked private property boundaries.

This is a great trail. It has an easy accent, that's a pretty gradual climb. There's lots of trails that you can access from this trail, with some amazing singletrack. There is a meadow about half way through the ride that's fun to come up upon through the dense trees. Very good trail that never gets old because of all the trails that stem off of it.
