Hidden Valley offers some pretty good riding for a ski area. The views of Ely and the Superior National Forest are tremendous and plentiful from the high hills, especially right at the base of the old ski jump. The riding is typically tougher in the high grass, but the trails are well-maintained, and there are plenty of challenging hills to test your climbing and descending skills. The one thing that’s missing is a good map of the place; I had a tough time finding the less-than-adequate one in this book. But the trails all loop around back to the trailhead, so it’s a fun place to run around in. Tread: Grassy ski trails.
