Yahoo! This place rocks for mountain biking! Lutsen has it all, from white-knuckle, technical descents to relaxed cruising. Four separate mountains provide an assortment of trails for riders of all abilities, and each trail is numbered and color-coded for easy navigation. Mystery Mountain serves up sensational singletrack riding, rolling through the woods and crossing the falls over the Poplar River. Moose Mountain offers challenging rides that rival some of the epic trails I’ve ridden in the Rockies: technical riding along the upper ridgeline, 1,100 feet above Lake Superior, snakes around and drops down to the Cascades, an expert rider’s playground over rock ledges. Eagle Mountain makes you work up a steep climb, then rewards your efforts going down. The trail on Ullr Mountain has great views of the wetlands above the falls, and there’s a good chance to see moose and friends as you gradually climb into the forest.
