Lake Bemidji offers excellent intermediate riding through the heart of Minnesota’s matchless north woods. The loop winds past aged pine stands and through dense hardwood forests of maple, oak, and birch. Wildlife abounds in the form of beaver, deer, owls, coyotes, and black bear. Ride quietly and you’re sure to see a critter or two. The trail’s rolling hills increase the fun factor, and a few steeper climbs will push your heart rate up to higher numbers. Plan extra time to enjoy the Bog Walk—it’s a short side trip that will need plenty of time to soak in the solitude. Tread: A mix of wide dirt and grass singletrack.
