Battle Creek has some of the best singletrack riding in the metro area, and it’s right up there in the statewide rankings, too. For newer riders, the front side of this park has wide, nontechnical ski trails. You will still go up and down a bit, though, so even those loops require a respectable level of fitness. The really fun stuff is in the woods past the top of the hill. Beautiful, hard-packed singletrack is laced throughout the whole area. Screaming descents, quad-busting climbs, and long, rolling stretches are all there. There are trails all over the place to explore. You’ll think you’re on a main loop, then another spur trail will shoot off around a curve. It’s impossible to resist trying them out. This place really is a playground and it’s a blast just riding around discovering new trails. Tread: Entire loop is on hard-packed singletrack.

This is a great trail network and it's close to downtown St. Paul. I parked on the East end near the community center, thus I started off going mostly downhill and had to climb back up, but there's lots of broken glass in the parking lot on the West end, and I didn't feel safe leaving my car there, even though I prefer to start off going uphill and finish by going down. Lots of great single track. The main thing to watch out for is a few sandy spots where you'll bog down, and the occasional root across the trail.
