This is an interesting chunk of the extensive Minnesota River Valley State Recreation Area and a fun one for riding. There is more open prairie-type land here, and the trails bring you through high grasses on the way to the wooded banks of the river. The State Corridor Trail was in mediocre condition for bikes, and you’ll encounter bone-jarring horse tracks for a good distance.
There’s wildlife all over the place, more than usual because of a mix of habitats. Look for deer, grouse, squirrels, herons, ducks, hawks, and a bevy of other birds. I separated this ride and the next one mainly for the settings, but they can easily be combined for a continuous loop. Tread: 0.5 mile gravel road; 3.9 miles grass and dirt trail.
