This is the first of several Minnesota River Valley rides in this book. It’s a relaxing ride, starting out at the Sibley House and heading right down to the river. Some cool singletrack trails branch off along the riverbank toward St. Paul, while the main gravel path hugs a rail bed in the opposite direction. The trail takes you through dense woodland that is jungle-like in the summer. There is always a healthy crop of nettles down in the valley, so be aware of that. Just a slight brush with one of those leaves and that burning sensation stays with you the rest of the day. Tread condition is excellent and the trail is flat as a pancake. There is also direct access to the next ride if you want to double the mileage. Tread: 0.4 miles on pavement; remaining 8.3 miles on wide gravel trail.
