This trail is paved, and appropriate for beginners young and old. The trail ends at a public park with a small boat ramp and great views of downtown Portland and surrounding Casco Bay.
South Portland has created an outstanding urban greenway through the city. Part of the East Coast Greenway, South Portland will complete the Greenbelt on June 10th with the paving of the last 1/2 mile of trail surface. Once the trail is complete, one can travel from the town of Scarborough, through South Portland, and get to downtown Portland in no time. The trail is all paved with a width of 8' on the old section and 10' on the new sections. The trail traverses along the South Portland waterfront and affords spectacular views of the Portland skyline and Casco Bay. In total, the Greenbelt is 5.6 miles long and 99% off-road.
