One of Tea Creek’s fabulous, well-maintained trails, this wide, rocky, spruce-lined rail-trail explores the remote beauty of Gauley Mountain—an especially popular mountain-biking destination. Fabulously remote, the Gauley Mountain Trail visits the wild face of its namesake peak, in the heart of the Tea Creek Recreation Area. Even though you’re high up in the mountains, the trail maintains a fairly constant elevation, making it popular with hikers and mountain bikers alike (as well as cross-country skiers). To add a bit of a thrill, you’re in black bear country here; sightings of this elusive species are common.
