This ride switches back and forth between smooth trail and technical rock pounding as you make a continuous ascent to Bog Brook Eddy (a widening in the brook that looks like a pond below the actual Bog Pond).
However, you are rewarded for your efforts with a look at a classic blackwater mountain bog with peat- and sphagnum-moss islands. Listen for the steam engine train whistle echoing across the valley from Lincoln as you climb. Tread: 1 mile of very rough jeep trail; 1.3 miles of ATV-width doubletrack. Location: 0.4 mile west of Interstate 93 north, exit 33, in Lincoln.
