The town of Amherst is about 6 miles east of Interstate 91, 10 miles east of Northhampton, and 95 miles west of Boston. Expect rolling terrain, with regular, short, sometimes steep, climbs and descents, and no large hills. From either the north or south, it's generally climbing for a while, then rolling, and downhill. Summer and fall are best for riding here. Expect some blowdowns across the trails in the spring. Watch for occasional hikers and announce your presence when approaching them from behind. Expect some bugs, especially in the moister southern part of the forest.

Great Riding. Some of the best single track I have been on. All of the hard climbs end with great downhill.
