This path runs from the middle of the Island in Bethpage to the south shore village of Massapequa, paralleling the southern section of the Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail. Despite the fact that it is in the heart of a densely populated area, it provides a quiet, bucolic environment that is rare in this part of the island. The northern starting point of the path is the Bethpage State Park picnic area parking lot in the northwest corner of the park. The path runs south through the park over scenic and rather hilly terrain on an excellently paved path passing the Bethpage Park Polo Field. The path then skirts the western edge of the park, providing open views of the Blue and Yellow golf courses before exiting the park. For the next 2 miles or so the path runs along the Bethpage State Parkway where at points it comes quite close to the roadway as it swoops under overpasses. Also along this section are several road crossings requiring some care.

I really enjoyed this ride. I did it in conjunction with a ride on the Jones Beach trail.

Nice ride in the woods, be cautious while passing the roads, the trees are like a shed over you, so you can do it even in the hot climate conditions.

paved smooth ride, streams, lakes and waterfalls. unfortunately the path is closed at certain points due to a construction project.

I ride this on a mountain bike almost daily. I ride from Wantagh early in AM(6:30AM). Wonderful paved path with little use in early morning. Six different road crossings if you go to polo fields in Bethpage. Very safe and during day many families use. Rises to an alitude of 495 feet from approxmately 70 feet.

Great trail to do with family- three kids, youngest is 8 all had a great time-had to be careful at some of the road crossings.
