This ride begins at a popular swimming beach near Boston, next to a musical amusement ride, an antique carousel. Then it explores four of the oldest and most scenic towns gracing the Atlantic Ocean: Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, and Hingham. Along the way, the tour passes rocky cliffs, grassy wetlands, a half dozen beaches, several harbors full of sailboats, a historic lighthouse, and well-kept nineteenth-century homes and churches. Taking a break from the seashore, the ride heads inland, sampling a large state park that's popular among local cyclists for its miles of paved bike paths and mountain-biking trails. Not bad for a 26 mile ramble. Terrain: well-maintained paved roads, rolling gently along the coast and through several towns, suburban and rural landscapes, and a large park. A few short hills. Traffic/Safety: always ride single file on the narrower roads along the coast. Also, watch for car doors in Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, and Hingham. The ride crosses 2 or 3 busy intersections.

A beautiful ride on a beautiful day. Lots of varied scenery -- all of it lovely. The only downside was the two miles or so from Hingham back to Hull on 3A which was a little scary. Also at the 14.3 mile point when trying to cross over 3A to Old Oaken Bucket Rd., there isn't actually a rotary there yet. But we improvised and got there. The cue sheet was very well done!
