In Central Massachusetts lies the vast Quabbin Reservoir. The reservoir is now the centerpiece of a large wilderness area, and the more than fifty islands that stud its surface are home to wild turkey and deer. The observation tower on Quabbin Hill rivals the summit of Mount Greylock as a vantage point for a panoramic view in the Commonwealth. From the tower the 400 billion gallons of water stretch as far as the eye can see. Quabbin includes the observation tower, two enormous dams, a visitor center, and miles of hiking trails. Terrain: mildly rolling hills and long flat stretches, with steeper climbs at 25 and 34 miles. Traffic/Safety: there is little traffic on most of this ride, but watch out for faster traffic on the numbered "highways".

to sum it up: this ride is f'n awful. my girlfriend and i drove up from CT shoreline to do this ride and check out the area. we expected a nice quiet ride on back roads twisting around a lake. what we got was a scenic tour of trailer homes along the frost heaved highway roads that 90 % of this route follow. throw in traffic and a shoulder no wider that 7 inches, and you have one hell of a nice ride! don't do it!!!
