This outstanding singletrack is a study in contrasts. The trail begins with a series of steep, forest-shrouded hills overlooking Devoe, Grousehaven, and Lodge Lakes. The trail narrows between the lakes and plunges steeply; if enough speed is gained, riders are propelled to the top of the next hill.
The second half of the ride follows the bucolic Rifle River, popular with fishermen, on an almost completely flat, well-used singletrack. The adventurous will enjoy fording a flooded area (as of summer 2001), but in general the trails are in good condition and fairly well marked, with signage disappearing in only a few areas. Tread: 12.9 miles of singletrack, 0.7 mile of dirt road, 0.6 mile of paved road.
