Pontiac Lake Recreation Area’s popular multiple-use trail system is receiving a face-lift. The Pontiac Lake chapter of the Michigan Mountain Biking Association and the Pontiac Lake Trail Riders are working with the Department of Natural Resources to realign and vegetate the old trails.
It will probably be a few more years before the final plan is in place, but that isn’t to say that mountain bikers can’t enjoy the trails now. The trail is still a thrilling rush as it works its way up and down the rolling Pontiac Lake terrain. The 3,800-acre park also offers a modern campground, boating and fishing, and a rifle range. Tread: 11.1 miles of singletrack.
