The Anvil Trails are one of the most popular mountain biking destinations in the Nicolet National Forest. The cluster itself is just east of the main vacationland of the North Country—the triangle of Eagle River, Minocqua, and Boulder Junction. Most of the riding is very basic save for one trail, Devil’s Run. The paths cover a wide variety of surfaces, from wide doubletrack paths on the West and North trails, to narrow cross-country ski paths on the Ninemile and Lake trails, to rough and challenging singletrack on Devil’s Run. Intermediate riders should have no trouble exploring the full set of trails within two hours.
