The Quarry is, amazingly, the only sanctioned set of off-road bike trails within the Madison city limits. Madison is the classic college town with a massive campus and student body at the center and a unique blend of people occupying the city’s main drag, State Street. The trails at The Quarry are quite simply the most technical in all of Wisconsin. The riding is insane and intense, reserved for only those well-trained in body English and bike control. Riding is not fast but instead is done at a much slower pace than usual, creeping and grinding over obstacles throughout the beehive network. Ridges, gullies, kettles, and natural half-pipes are but a few of the types of terrain found in the cluster. All are ridden on extremely hard-packed and well-worn singletrack and all are strewn with glacial debris and root systems from the surrounding trees. For those not used to crashing or unplanned dismounts this is the place to learn. The “quick kick from the toe clips” and “handle-bar hurdle” are two techniques new to many riders that will be necessary for those wanting to avoid injury.

Very hard to find, but once you do, very amazing. There are no signs. Ran into a woman with her dog who told me it was a dog park... however, still an awesome park. Smaller then expected, but pretty difficult for a beginner.

Hard to find! It’s mostly a web of tracks. Just get in and ride.

The Quarry is a very fun terain park with the freerider in mind. All around the quary there are little chutes, rock drops and dirt jumps to keep your creativeness going. The Quarry really isn't a place to get a work out on the trail. of the few trails it does have they are flat and not challenging.
