The mostly flat landscape features a few interstate exits complete with the ubiquitous truck stops, fast-food joints, and little else. But as you close in on St. Cloud, you'll notice the terrain changing dramatically. Instead of nondescript fields and strip malls, the landscape has become a rolling green carpet of large hills, broad valleys, and thick forests. Thoughtfully carved out by active glaciers, the suddenly scenic terrain lies west of St. Cloud. Dairy farms and ponds dot the area, and many mile of smooth, quiet roads wind throughout the country. It may not be cycling nirvana, but it's close.
