This ride focuses on the Higgins Lake area. It offers a quiet ride on rolling hills, thousands of wildflowers along the roads, and hundreds of trees from pines to birches. Things to see: North Higgins Lake State Park, Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, woods and wildflowers. A good reason to park at the CCC Museum is its fascinating look at a piece of Michigan history. It commemorates and celebrates all that the Civilian Conservation Corps did for the State of Michigan. People who spend time outdoors probably enjoy the fruits of the CCC’s many labors every time they go to a state park or state forest. When young men couldn’t find jobs in the 1930s, President Franklin D. Roosevelt began the CCC to put them to work.
