To many people, Grand Haven is famous for three things: its Coast Guard Festival in August, with parades and water shows; one of the best Lake Michigan beaches; and its musical fountain-water dancing with music and lights- said to be the world's largest. It should also be famous for its biker-friendly roads. This route rides on low-traffic roads and bike paths, and along the way you'll see residential areas, parks, and the Grand River. The optional loop rides out on the breathtaking Grand Haven pier for a close look at the famous lighthouse, via the Grand Haven boardwalk, and then follows the coastline along Grand Haven State Park. Things to see: Lake Michigan, Grand Haven pier and boardwalk, Grand River, Tri-Cities Historical Museum.

We had high hopes for this tour, making a special trip to Grand Haven to ride it. But...it was boring. Lake Shore Drive is no where near the lake, the homes along the entire route are just average, the scenery is ordinary. The length was good, and aerobically it was just challenging enough. But the scenery was a real disappointment.
