Divided by the Kalamazoo River, the tourist towns of Saugatuck and Douglas, located on the Lake Michigan coastline, have for years attracted crowds, especially from Chicago, via trains, boats, and autos. Formerly a large artists' colony, the towns charm visitors with trendy boutiques, galleries and art shows, diverse restaurants, and lake views from atop high, white sandy dunes. During this ride it becomes apparent why the area is so popular. Along with the towns, you'll experience rolling hills through hardwoods and pines, fields of wildflowers, one of Michigan's best wineries, and views of Hutchins Lake and the Kalamazoo River. Things to see: Towns of Saugatuck, Fennville, and Douglas, Hutchins Lake, Fenn Valley Vineyards, Kalamazoo River.

This route was fun to ride. Relatively flat, a couple of small rolls for enjoyment. Took us past the fenn valley winery and did a detour to Crane's pie shop.
