Sure, the travel brochures may say "Magical Michigan," but in Colon it's no exaggeration. Harry Blackstone, one of the country's most famous and revered magicians in his time, had his home in Colon, where he rested from performing and took time to work on his act. Fellow magician Percy Abbott came to visit Blackstone in Colon, and he too put down roots here.
The two made plans to work together, but after a falling out, it was Abbott's Magic Manufacturing Company, begun in 1933, that eventually became the world's largest maker and supplier of magical accouterments. It's still supplying magicians the world over. You'll see it on this ride along with the town billed as the "magic capital of the world." Things to see: Amish farms, lakeshore, wooded rolling hills.
