Chadwick Motorcycle Use Area networks more than 100 miles of trail in a 12-square-mile area of the Mark Twain National Forest. It offers something for every mountain biker: potential loops of almost any distance and rides to match the skills of any cyclist. If you want something easy, the trails that follow ridges and drainages are fairly gentle and well suited to beginning riders. Climbs and descents between the ridges and bottoms will challenge the more experienced riders. If you don't like portages, though, you should probably go somewhere else. The steeper grades will be very loose and washed out by ATVs. All cyclists should expect to carry their bikes on some of the tougher climbs and descents. These trails are located 25 miles southeast of Springfield.
