This route is testament to the restorative qualities of cycling. In this area called the Heart of the Blue Ridge, steep slopes shelter the roads hugging the banks of Jack’s Creek and then the Toe River as they meander through these narrow valleys. With little traffic to contend with, you can content yourself with listening to the sounds of gurgling streams and the birds flitting about and gliding on mountain currents. Don’t let yourself be too mesmerized and miss a turn or you’ll find that intersecting roads go straight up over the mountains!

This was one awesome ride , scenery was fantastic , when you has time to look , first 10 miles were fast and swooping , pace was great and felt good letting it roll . The river views were awesome , seeing the back woods areas was also great . Amazing you can ride almost 40 miles in this area with no climbing . This is a must for a beautful country ride without the climbing .
