The Whitewater Falls Ramble, although only 17.2 miles, provides quite a challenge in this mountainous area known for its numerous waterfalls. The ride starts at the intersection of U.S. Highway 64 and North Carolina Highway 281 and travels south along NC–281 to Whitewater Falls, then retraces the same route back to Sapphire. The route includes several long climbs, eliminating any doubt that you’re in the mountains, but the spectacular falls make the ride worth it.
