The Polk County Cruise takes you on a 39.8-mile tour of horse country and the small towns of Columbus, Tryon, and Saluda. The rolling ups and downs of the roads in hunting country give way to steep hills as you enter Tryon. From there U.S. Highway 176 ascends a steady 6 miles up the Saluda Grade into the historic town of Saluda, where you turn around and enjoy the downhill ride. The route follows back roads to the starting point at the historic courthouse in Columbus, North Carolina.
