The Queen City Ramble leads you on a challenging tour of North Carolina’s largest city, Charlotte, and is recommended for experienced cyclists. Beginning at the chic shopping area called Southpark Mall, the route winds through some of the city’s oldest and most elegant neighborhoods on its way to Uptown Charlotte. There you’ll tour the central business district with its impressive skyline, pass by Ericsson Stadium, and see Charlotte’s heart at the intersection of Tryon and Trade Streets, distinguished by four large sculptures on each of the corners. The Mint Museum of Craft and Design, along with Discovery Place, are located just two blocks north. From there the route heads east to the Mint Museum of Art before circling through Myers Park neighborhoods on the way back to Southpark Mall. Charlotte is a fast-growing city with traffic to match, requiring cyclists to assert their right to the road while sharing the pavement defensively with motorists.
