The Westbend Ramble, a relatively easy 12.6-mile ride, starts in the small town of Lewisville and, with few turns, takes you to Westbend Vineyards. Located near the west bend in the Yadkin River, the vineyard offers tours and tastings of its award-winning wines. The initial part of the ride has some steep ups and downs but becomes gently rolling around the vineyards. The return trip has more gradual climbs and descents.

I rode this with my cycling buddy around 11 am on a Tuesday in April; both of us are beginner but not novice road bikers. We found the route quite beautiful and actually peaceful. The terrain and remaining farmland and farmhouses are visually appealing and set far enough apart to be enjoyable. The new construction flies by fast enough that the garishness passes quickly. We would have scored this a 4 had the roads been in somewhat better condition. There are a number of lengthy rough spots due to patching. Not enough to totally dampen our enthusiasm for the route but they did require careful attention and detracted some from our enjoyment. We did not stop at the vineyard but have sampled some of their wines, and several are pretty good. We would not describe the rolling terrain at the beginning as "steep" but there are a number of moderately graded, moderate length ascents and descents which we were glad to face at the beginning of the ride rather than the end.
