The Capital City Ramble offers a relatively easy 12.2-mile tour of Raleigh. It starts at the main entrance to an established girls’ school then heads toward the State Capitol and downtown Raleigh. After a few blocks on streets in the center city, it takes you east through historic Oakwood and past St. Augustine’s College. Winding back on itself, the route then passes the Governor’s Mansion and two museums before it turns north to meander through different old-time Raleigh neighborhoods. The route returns to Hillsborough Street through neighborhoods surrounding North Carolina State University.
