This ride's general location is 40 miles southwest of Lexington. Scenery includes Lake Douthat, and neighboring peaks from atop the ridge. You can set this ride up as a 6.5-mile point-to-point by using a shuttle vehicle or an 11-mile loop with the additional mileage on hard-surface and gravel roads. Either way you will test your abilities on single-track climbs as well as a 3.5-mile descent that's guaranteed to have you clenching you teeth together for some time to come. Mountain bikers attempting either option should have intermediate or better fitness and bike handling skills.
