This ride's general location is just east of Covington on US 60. Scenery includes beautiful stands of mountain laurel along Dry Run and views of neighboring peaks. This loop on single-track, double-track, forest road, and hard-surface roads should offer a pleasant surprise. The trail quickly leaves the sounds and smells of the city behind for some breathtaking views from atop Fore Mountain, towering growths of mountain laurel growing along Pounding Mill Run as it crashes over its rocky bed, and a six-mile descent to end the ride. The trails rocky surface makes this ride more suitable for intermediate and better riders, especially on the climbs. The huge stands of mountain laurel and massive hemlock growing along the banks of Pounding Mill Creek create a natural beauty that seems incongruous with Covington's industrial base.
