Mountain Bike! Virginia

We did this as a loop, with a long climb up to Elliot's knob in the mist and rain, and then a long descent on a ridge trail around the back side of the knob. With the slick rocks I had to walk a great deal of the downhill, and by the time I got back to the intersection of 688 I was too tired to do the real hard section--5 hike a bikes to a downhill. I think we rode about 20 miles anyway, and the ride was the hardest ride I have done in a long while--really fun, though. Saw a rattler in the trail, too. Nice, backcountry challenge, with ledges that are dangerous--don't ride off the mountain!
