This ride's general location is 25 miles west of Staunton. Scenery includes spectacular views from the Breastworks and along the ridge. This loop lies on the western edge of Shenandoah Valley at the top and base of Shenandoah Mountain with the Augusta-Highland County boundary running through it. This route has been developed as a 25-mile system of trails and forest roads for horse travel by the Buffalo Trail Riders, but this does not mean horses and mountain bikes can't share the same trail, but bikers should yield to equestrians. The ride starts on US 250 and features some tough climbs with a moderate amount of rough trail and road surface, which makes it most suitable for better-than-average riders.
