This ride's general location is 10 miles southwest of Charlottesville in Albemarle County. Scenery includes dense woods on hillsides surrounding a 25-acre lake. This is a challenging single-track route for intermediate or expert riders. Less experienced riders may want to stick to the trail along the water's edge. This is a nifty five-mile single-track loop through the mature hardwoods surrounding the 23-acre lake at Walnut Creek Park. The trail consists of a single loop with an intersection at the 2.5 mile point where the experts and we mere mortals must temporarily part company. This is a multi-use trail system; although with its tight, twisty turns, log jumps, and quick descents, it's hard to believe that this trail wouldn't lose something in the translation from two wheels to two feet. The trail goes up, down, and around the natural contours of this park's hills and ravines.

Incredible place! Challenging for a beginner, but doable and for the intermediate rider, just about perfect. Just enough obstacles to make it interesting and challenging balanced by trails that were impeccably maintained and beautiful scenery.

I live nearby. Great trails for different level riders. Has a great reputation in the area.

Walnut Creek was fun, fun, fun even on a rainy day. Nice climbs, fast descents and tight singletrack made for a great ride. And, some minor rocky and rooty sections let the intermediate rider test out technical skills without getting frustrated.
