This ride's general location is in the city of Petersburg. Scenery includes historic monuments, bunkers, and exhibits that were part of the 10-month siege at Petersburg. This is a good family ride that offers the casual rider the possibility of a pleasant leg-stretcher and some Civil War history by combining the hard-surface, four-mile Siege Road, which runs the length of this 1,500-acre park, with side trips on one or more of the gravel roads and trails-none longer than two miles-that veer off into the woods. These wide, flat trails branch off from the hard-surface road through sites of former fortifications, armed batteries, and the crater formed by a Union mine that exploded under one of the Confederate fortresses. Be sure to obey signs that show which trails are off limits to bicycles. The battlefield road and adjoining trails are most suitable for beginning riders, families or riders out for some fresh air.

Richmond Area Bicycling Association mountain bike ride met here on Sat, Jan 6, 2001 for a 16 mile social off road ride. A good time was had by all (13 people showed up) and a lot of calories were burned off on pleasant trails on a pleasant day. Trail conditions are excellent.
