This ride's general location is 11 miles west of Williamsburg off Interstate 64 at the Croaker exit. Scenery includes unique, highly fertile coastal plain environment with growths of glade fern, ginseng, and rare native orchids among black walnut, southern sugar maple, and chinquapin oak. This is a challenging course for competitive mountain bikers. The ride consists of two loops that form a figure eight of sorts. If this ride is too much, you will be glad to see Bail-Out Trail about a mile into the first loop, a combo of the Marl Ravine Upper and Lower Trails. Marl is a mixture of clay, sand, and limestone along with some shell fragments.

Lots of switchbacks, climbs/descents but very little airtime opportunities and/or technical terrain. Fun, and great cardio workout!

Excellent trail, extremely fun, good workout, perfect for improving your bike skills and enjoying a great ride at the same time. EVMA has done a tremendous job in keeping this trail maintained for all to enjoy!

This trail is fantastic. There is an incredible variety of forests, as the environment changes at different parts of the ride. Although, all the way through, it is quite challenging and requires a lot of technical riding. The trail is pretty tight, but the drops are a blast. A handful of moguls make the ride entertaining throughout, and the complete variety of the trail makes sure you never get bored, as you experience a different style of ride at various sections. The end of the trail is by far the hardest, but the middle of the trail is an absolute blast. When I finished the ride, I came off with quite a natural high, and I think you will find the same result. This has to be the top trail in the Williamsburg area!

If you are comfortable with reasonably tight switch backs and undulations with turns, this is a very nice trail for this area of the country. A few tough ups and occasional technical logs & ramps next to the trail add to the ride. Riding off season allowed us to travel it one way and then the other.
