This ride's general location is 5 miles north of Gloucester Courthouse in Gloucester County. Scenery includes hardwoods surrounding a large reservoir. This is an excellent introduction to single-track riding with minimal ups and downs; great birding. Five miles of trail snake along Beaverdam Reservoir's northern edge, and several small loops are thrown in to make this more interesting than the usual out-and-back rides. This ride has none of the technical aspects that would restrict a rider with basic bike handling skills, although it does offer plenty of intricate twists and turns along the wooded edges of the 635-acre body of water. The reservoir forms a beautiful backdrop for this trail. Coastal waters such as Beaverdam attract readily identifiable water birds like a magnet. Future plans to make this a loop around the lake will only make this good mountain bike trail better.
