This ride's general location is in the city of Newport News. Scenery includes hardwoods surrounding a pond. This ride is an excellent introduction to single-track riding with minimal ups and downs; bring plenty of bug spray. This ride is technically a part of the 6,000-acre municipal outdoor recreation area. The trail consists of three single-track loops of increasing technical difficulty joined together by a mile-long service road, which is flat, sandy double-track. Together these form a five-mile out-and-back configuration if you've ridden each of the loops. The novice trail loops along one edge of the Hardwoods Mill Reservoir through a forest of holly, oak, and maple. The other trails border a cutover section that is considerably less attractive, although the trails are no less fun to ride. Each of the three loops has its own share of technical challenges and none is so easy that it should be taken lightly. On the other hand, because of the relatively flat terrain, even the expert trail in not so tough that any intermediate rider with moderate bike handling skills wouldn't be up to the challenge.

This tail is more of a nice flat fast pacesed track in my opinion the beginner course was more fun and technical than the advanced and because i was short on time i never made it to the expert, another great trail for the area is GateWood

Fairly flat, fun trail with lots of roots. Beginners can handle the advanced trail, but may have to hop off the bike acouple of times.
