A truly epic ride. You can make this route shorter depending on where you choose to start, but no matter where you begin, it's still epic. From Lake Santeetla you'll gain 3400 feet in a continuous 11-mile climb, most of which is a 9% grade. The views are the best around and rivaled only by the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are 12 pull-offs on the Skyway itself before you reach the Tennessee state line. You can see all of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness, Lake Santeetla, and from the state line the Tennessee River and the Cumberland Plateau- it's amazing. This road is brand new and smooth as silk; the downhills are very fast. The state line sits atop the ridge before a really long downhill, so if you decide to continue on into Tennessee, be prepared for a long climb back up. Points of interest: Lake Santeetla; Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest- a short hike through big trees; views, views and more views.

One of the most beautiful rides in the eastern USA, but you better be in good physical shape, and have nerves of steal. You will be sharing the road with hundreds of tourists in cars that are looking mostly at the vistas around every curve. If you can handle the climbs and the tourists, them definately do this ride
