An ideal tandem route, this loop remains close to South Asheville for most of its length. About a third of the ride passes through the community business district, while the remainder rolls through rural farmland, and five miles of that is on the Blue Ridge Parkway. You'll see horse farms and have occasional mountain views. Best of all there are no major climbs- a rarity in the mountains! Be prepared to ride on a busy commercial highway for several miles at the beginning and end of the route. Points of interest: Blue Ridge Parkway overlook (info display); NC State Arboretum (2-mile side trip); Bent Creek Experimental Forest (Mountain Biking; 3-mile side trip); pottery gallery.
