Second Mountain is a mecca for local riders form the Harrisonburg area. Even though the grounds are shared with many motorcyclists and 4WD enthusiasts, there is an ample amount of acreage to go around. Many of the trails are not as popular with motorized traffic so these trails can be explored with great vigor. The roller coaster theme weighs heavy and the extent of damage is fairly minimal. These trails were transformed from their original function as fire roads into recreational access roads. This gives ATV enthusiasts a chance to get on the trail but also limits their trail usage.
