Massanutten Mountain is contained within the boundaries of the George Washington National Forest and is full of great public land on which to explore More than 90 percent of the mountain is open to mountain bikers, although much of the rideable terrain is along old forest roads and wide doubletrack. While it may not be the downhiller's mountain of choice or the extreme singletrack destination (very little extreme terrain is available unless you go north to Elizabeth Furnace of can somehow pedal along the singletrack at Massanutten Resort), it is nonetheless a great place for extended overnight trips and long, leisurely off-road rambles. Trail Surface: Rolling gravel forest roads.

There were trails not on the map, but very good single track and ridge trail riding. Very technical in parts. Great downhill and berm sections.

the whole mt. is rocky, and technical, but merits some fast, off camber downhills, and switchbacks that will make you forget any of the climbs. you can also create your own loops, alot of fun but watch for large bee's and timber rattlesnakes.
